The calf has both the vet and I stumped. The calf is a week old. Natural, easy birth and was up and sucking within hours. I would call it a dead head, though. Never quite as chirped as his peers. Then, Friday night, noticeable symptoms. Very messy back end and had a lot of blood in poop. Also, stomach seemed "full". Treated with anti-scour pills and bolus. And drenched with about a pint of electrolytes. Next morning, very weak. Running slight fever and didn't seem interested in nursing. Drenched with 2 quarts, to keep from becoming dehydrated, and gave an antibiotic. Later that day decided to take to vet office. Vet agreed that stomach seemed sloshy and concerned. Vet kept calf at office overnight and called this morning. Not much change, but was at least sitting up. No purple gums, peeing well and poop is now a dark brown. Stomach still large and sloshy. Suggested to vet about a blockage and did give it mineral oil to see if that might help. Any ideas???
