We had to pull a bull calf last night. He had his front hooves and tongue sticking out (we thought he was dead). Don't know when mom started labor. His tongue was swollen and he is unable to suck. We have milked mom and fed him twice with bag and tube. He seems to be able to use back legs (he kicks and moves them), but he won't or can't get up. How can we help him?

With out seeing the calf this is a hard one to respond to.
But every day he stays down he is closer to a 22 bullet.
Stand that calf, help to move, make a sling and stand him with the front end loader while feeding. With the labor you discribed you have a long row to hoe.

Caustic, that sensitivity training seems to be paying off! I agree.... ;-) :cboy:

Like Caustic said, you need to get him up. Use a sling a square bale or whatever you can find that will support his weight. We had a backwards calf that was the same as yours, just didn't seem to be able to use his hind legs. We propped him up using a square bale with a saddle on top (highback). We did this 2-3 times a day. After 3-4 days he was going on his own. As soon as the swelling in his tongue goes down enough work on getting him sucking a bottle too.
