He did not move around much and the cut closed up and did not allow any drainage. Your vet got you on right track. Should be fine in a day or two. If you can wash with water hose will help with swelling and drainage if he is in lot. If not make him run with horse, truck, 4-wheeler etc this will help keep him open and draining.
