calf illness

My father has young weaned calves about 8-10months old. Two have developed some symptoms that our local veterian has not seen before. The first symptom of the illness seems to blindness followed by loss of muscular control. The veterian believes that it will eventually be fatal. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check for a disease called "Alpha Mannosidosis". I'm not a vet but I have sources. If this is the diagnosis, I don't think there is a cure. Most die within a year. Nervous system dysfunction. Seen in Angus, Galloway and Murray Grey cattle. It is hereditary, but not contagious. Perhaps Vicki can help us out?
