They tell me that 30 years ago everyone here used calf tables. They say that they quit using them and went back to roping and dragging the the fire. That helps to make rope horses and cowboys who can rope. Both of those are needed when the cows are out on the range land in the summer.

I would believe that . A few people around here (NW Kansas) do that . Our biggest problem is help . Just me and my dad . We are looking for anything and everything to make it easier on us .

Here it is all neighbors helping each other. It does help to build a sense of community. The only ones to use a calf table have literally said that if they had a branding where everyone came then they would be expected to go to other people's brandings. They are very marginal at best as far as being part of the community.

The hydraulic table will be nice. I have a manual table, and after awhile it does start wearing you down. This year we are going to shake things up and drag the calves to the fire. I friend talked me into it, he said he had some friends that would help. I hope he is right.
