I bought two yearling red angus bulls with pretty high birth weights(101, 107lbs). But their birth weight epd is .6 and their CED is a zero. Am I going to have a lot of calving problems on 1100-1200 lb cows? Kinda late now but wanted other peoples opinion. The breeder said he wouldn't be worried because they were ET calves and the cows they were put into were 1800+lbs. Is he right or is he pulling my leg? Thanks in advance for any advice.

The BW doesn;t bother me as much as the calving ease. I'ld have to check but I think the RA CE is around 4. BW is just one part of calving ease. That said, I wouldn;t worry too much about using them on mature cows, but come calving time I would keep an eye on them. You might also want to look back through their pediree on the RA site and see what kind of CE the parents and grand parents had.
Welcome to the world of Red Angus!
