Got married seven months ago and my wife, bless her heart believes the smoke detector is a kitchen timer. When the dog looks at you with the hey I'm not eating that look u know it's bad.

You mean it isn't the timer??
Apparently it's the law now that the owner of the house must supply and maintain the smoke alarms - owner of mine sent someone in to deal with them and now I can't cook stuff the way I like it.
So I dug a firepit in the garden...
