Make sure to follow up any verbal agreement in writing. It would be best to write out what he's going to do, whether just give you a lump sum of cash or he pays for x loads of hay that your source, and ask him to sign it.
Not bad adviseTake his cash and forget cows. Take a winter off.
Love that.oh just figure it up, give him the bill and see what happens. asking him to sign things and calling all these people are just going to make it a mess for you and p!ss him off. He already told you he'd take care of you, and pay you cash.
I am so sorry that this happened to your hay. This happened yesterday.
I'm pretty hacked off about it. It's just unbelievable when it actually happens to you. Fortunately I've only 6 cow and a bull to feed this winter. But I've only got 2 bales saved at the other place. The guy that started the "controlled burn" in his burn pit 2 days ago, says he will take care of me. We will see, I guess.
Over 80 rolls up in smoke. It'll be burning for a few days still. With my hay reserves, I had planned on buying a bunch of bred cows to hold thru winter and sell late spring.

It also got 2 of his grow houses. He's much worse off than me thru this mess. Those buildings were 22k each before furnishing and setting up/finishing out.
What a damn mess!!
First thing I would have done is call the cops so everything is documented... This is exactly why there are cops. He's gonna pay cash. Being a grow facility they deal a lot in cash. He's already asked me what I would like him to do...
Stackin' it up!
Crabgrass here. Bermuda next week. Fortunately hay is plentiful this year.

That's good advice!First thing I would have done is call the cops so everything is documented... This is exactly why there are cops.
Then I would have called my insurance company, also to document, but also to see if anything is covered.
And if the guy is willing to replace the hay... I would find someone with hay to sell and make sure it's what I want... and then give the seller my name and make sure he knows exactly what I want and then give the grow facility guy the contact information and tell him he has two weeks to replace my hay.
And as someone said earlier... document, document, document.
Amazing... That's really good to hear. Something actually works for a change...That's good advice!
Funny u said cops. The sheriff lives about 6 miles from our place out there. He was already there when I got there. Great guy!
Yes sir!
The farmer is a man of his word. Already paid at an agreed upon replacement price to include delivery.
Right!?!?!Amazing... That's really good to hear. Something actually works for a change...
