I have a 1 year old Herford Heifer and a week or so ago I noticed a Bump on her head about the size of a pencil eraser.
Now its bigger and there are a few more. The look like a growth
of some kind. They are whiteish with a rough texture and
kinda yellow at the base. they stand up about 3/8". I wish I
had access to a digital camera, if I can borrow one, I will post a pic.

The cow seems fine. Still eats like a pig, is playful and happy
not dull or lathargic(sp?)

Is there a good site with pictures where I might find a clue
as to what this is?

Warts. Lots of opinions on what to do. Treat them and they'll go away after a while. Don't treat them and they'll go a way after a while. We don't worry about them.

I've had several cattle with warts over the years. I've never treated them, and they've always gone away after a while. I've never seen warts come back after they go away either. Maybe some sort of natural immunity; maybe not. I don't really care as long as they're gone.

One day they are are there looking real nasty and once you got used to looking at them there gone...unless they give you the willies, I wouldn't bother them....DMc

Ours are usually show calves, so we have to get rid of them.

This is the only time I would mess with them. Or if you are marketing the animals. Or if they really bother you (like me). They will runs there course.

Some people say to cut them off and give them to them in a bolus.

I would puke my guts out trying this method
