Hi! I am new to this. My question is: We have a 8 year old bull that has a painful growth between his hoof. We stopped by the vet and asked him about the growth. We were told he was too old to fix it and just take him to the sale. Well if any of you get attached to your animals you will understand that it is hard for us to do. Does anyone have any suggetions on what we can do to heal this on our own? Would like to try to fix him if possible.

Sounds like a corn. If that;'s what it is you could have it cut off but it will just grow right back

Sounds like corns between the toes. It can be fixed but requires surgery. Your vet gave you good advice. He/she was trying to save you money. The corns can b e painful and keep the bull from breeding, so you may not get all your cows bred.

AS others have mentioned, sell the bull and take this as an opportunity to upgrade your herd.

If you really like him, have him ground and he can become a part of family.

We know that the bull is not our kid. We have sold a lot of cattle over the years and feel like this bull has time left in him. We bottle fed him when he was young. We do not have a problem with selling our cattle. It is just a little hard since we have had him so long and would like to do everything possible before the ultimate sale.
