B has a old Jeep Cherokee. Drives up to the calf. Hops out leaving the door open. Grabs the calf and sticks its head in by the brake pedal. 2 vaccination guns, the ear tagger, and bander are all placed in easy to grab locations. It is all done before the calf can say boo. The shots and ear tag are real quick. The banding is the only thing to slow the operation. If it is going to be a problem the calf is turned loose as a bull to be cut at branding time.Don't know if my nerves could handle 50 a day !
Our record was 43 in a day. That was enough for this tagger guy. Have had 500 in 20 days several times. We are way down on cows this year but supposed to be finished in 45 days.Don't know if my nerves could handle 50 a day !
We tagged and banded 62 last weekend. 2 heeling and dragging and 2 on the ground tagging and banding the 37 bull calves. Probably took 2 hours, maybe 2 hours and a half. I can't imagine @Dave's friend having to do 1200 at 50 a day by himself.Don't know if my nerves could handle 50 a day !
