Bull sale in Alabama

Help Support CattleToday:

Livingston is south west of Tuscaloosa. Interstate 59 almost to the Mississippi line . No sir . I did go to the Alabama Angus sale today in Cullman. Prices were strong but not outrageous for registered cattle . I took a young couple who want to get in the cattle business. Currently they have sheep . They first wanted to buy pairs from me , then it changed to open cows , then bred heifers. The last they asked about weaned heifer calves . I think they got their eyes opened today . I'm no where close to the prices today . I would sell a little cheaper to get them started but not below market price. Sweet couple and she's 4 1/2 months pregnant.

Good looking set of bulls . Not too much finish on them . A lot of the cows/ heifers today had too much finish . They had been fed well !

I "know of" the Coles and the Dixons. Not the other members of this group. I think Tommy Brown is an advisor. Tommy is a well know cattle/simmental guy in Alabama. Notice that the group is a member of Allied Genetic Resources, a well known simmental consulting/marketing (and more) group with member ranches. Google them for more information.

The bigger and better-known Gibbs Farms in Alabama is part owner of and uses 2 of Mike Cole's bulls. Gibbs sale was today. If my notes are correct, Gibbs averaged $8742 on 154 bulls. I suspect a person could get a pretty good bull at this sale for less than that.

I am going to disagree and say there is no typo or error. If you look at the catalog there are a number of unlabeled random pictures like the solid black bull shown here. The pictures of bulls in the sale or their sires are clearly labeled underneath saying what they are and sells as lot # or sire of lot # or in at least one case Full Brother to Lot#. Therefore my conclusion is the video of the baldy bull is L412 and the picture of the solid black is a random farm picture.

They both share the exact information. Video of black baldie is most likely L412.
Or they are twins.
