Bull is out!

Help Support CattleToday:

What do ya'll folks do if your bull gets out and is missing?
If it's me the first thing is try not to panic, followed by checking fences to try to find where they might have gone, and contacting neighbors. If it's some of our neighbors that has a bull or anything else out, they don't seem to worry and just wait till somebody else finds them and takes care of it for them. That's actually one of our neighbor's business models, let the other neighbors deal with them.

What do you mean? "In a chevy"
How do you have two locations?

No, sir. Just think he went on a trip outside the fence.
So it's great that you are all smug and clever and s*it... but I doubt your neighbor's bull went missing in a Chevy. And I and others might have different ideas depending on where you are. Topography comes to mind, but there are other things that might matter. So good luck...

Oh excuse me, I thought you were talking about my location.... it wasn't on my profile.

The first thing I do is load the Weatherby...

Then we go hunt for CHEESEburgers!

Do they even have Weatherby's in Kentucky? Doubt it since everyone drives Chevy pickups. Probly best they can do is an ol thutty thutty. Maybe an ought 6..

"I know there are some things done or said that can never be taken back no matter what or how hard we try but we have to at least try, don't we?
So, after long reflection, if it's not too much trouble, Please, could you make that a CHEESEburger?"

Unfortunately, knowing your neighbors and sheriff, game warden, cattle ranger, etc is a thing of the past I guess. If a bull goes missing around here, pretty good chance I'll hear where he is at the coffee shop. If not, first calls are to my neighbors, then I'll call the sheriff to see if there are any reports and let him know the situation. The game warden is out on the range as much as anybody so his eyes are helpful too. We have a cattle ranger that I'll call if I determine he's truly missing, not just visiting.
But all this takes having a relationship with all these people, and these days that's not that common.
More valuable relationships are the vet, the sale barn, and a good number for a cowboy to call if you need help getting him wrangled up once you find him.
Again, these are relationships that are invaluable.

Good post.

One time somebody's bull showed up at a place where my friend lived. It had some fields but mostly a lot of dense mesquite brush along a river. Some cowboys showed up with a trailer, unloaded their horses, found the bull, hazed him around trying to throw ropes then bull went into the thorny mesquite. They left and came back with more cowboys and some dogs. Yelling could be heard, dogs barking, sound of brush popping and breaking for quite a while. Then, there went the bull swimming down the river around the bend out of sight. I don't think they ever caught the bull. It was quite a show.
