Bull Feeding Program

I have 30 cows on 82 acres of Bahaia grass which has not been limed or fertilized in years (we just acquired this land). Our Angus Bull is servicing these cows now and my question is what should he be fed to keep him in good condition. We have a protein supplement available and the grass is plentiful.Does he need anything else? Thank you for your valued information

How old is this bull? If he's a yearling bull and still growing he could probably use some extra feed. If he's a mature (4 yrs or older) bull, I wouldn't worry. He'll likely drop some condition during breeding season; just watch to be sure he's working. Good luck...

One other thought in addition to what Frankie had to say. If you are new to this business, I would caution you to not neglect the trace minerals. The cows need them and I am sure they would help the bull as well. Long term neglect of a mineral suppliment had an adverse affect on my herd last year and it is too cheap to ignore. Best of luck,
