Sorry about your broken hand. I know how you feel as I tripped on a frozen clod and fell face first onto the ground. Broke my hand and bit completely through my upper lip. Talk about a wake-up call. Hope it's not too serious for you.

Sorry to hear that. Try soaking your hand in epson salt to take swelling down. Won't do anything for the break but will make the hand feel better. (if it won't mess up the splint)

Sorry to hear about that! I've had the broke toe condition from working with cows before, but they haven't got the hand yet.....

sorry to hear that you broke your hand.with breaks now days they send you to see a specialist.

TNMasterBeefProducer, Crowbar did reply to your post and I thought it was a very sincere in it's tone. He was mostly concerned about the geographic location of where your most unfortunate accident occurred.

my most unfortunate accident occured in the working chute working cattle. We have a sweep tub from ww and i was using the crowd gate when this 1300 pound brangus cow got irate and rammed the gate and it smacked me in the hand. I went to the orthopedist today. He said that my 4th metacarpal was displaced 4 mm. He said the bone has shortened and that if I didnt have surgery the knuckle would look out of whack but that the finger is straightening up nicely. I showed him my other hand and said my knuckles are already jacked up as it is. I think I will opt out of the surgery. Although, it did sound like alot of fun. He was going to do this thing called a beer block and numb my hand and whole arm then cut my hand open and go in and put titanium bolts into the bone. BEER BLOCK sounds alot of fun.

Ouch that sounds like it would really hurt.I hope you get full recovery of your hand again.
I crushed my hand in between the sorting chute and the cattle chute when we did herd health last fall , I wrapped it with tissue and finished the job.I have to have plastic surgery to repair the damage because it crushed my wedding band finger.I get very strange looks when I where my set on my right hand now.

Just a reminder to people when working with equipment never where any jewelry. The Doc said I would probably have cut my finger right off if I had been wearing a ring.

Had the same injury to my left hand Sept.30/07. Went ahead with the bier block, surgery with pins, and got along fine. TNMasterBeefProducer, check your pm. Would like to send you the x-ray of mine. X-ray shows a long spiral type clean break along the entire length of the bone. Also separated the finger from the hand. Don't know how to post the x-ray here.

We can never be too careful working around equipment and animals.

Seperated your finger from your hand? Ouch and yuck!
I was kicked in the hand by calf. I surprised him, he did not know I was standing behind him. I normally don;t ever so that. Anyhow ~ took months for the feeling to come back alnog the back of my hand and 3 of my fingers. Just nerve damage.

I dislocated my left pointer finger...New Year's Eve before last, 11:45 p.m.

Nephew's electric scooter, caliche road, and Miller Lite. The bruised rib hurt worse...
