Brindle

Help Support CattleToday:

Most cattle that are brindle are crossbred. The cross that I have seen that produces this color most often is the Brahman X Hereford F-1. Beefmasters will often turn up tigerstriped, but most of the time crossbred cows with some brahman in them will be brindle sometimes.

The Branvieh diluter gene will show up as a brindle.

Our Registered Texas Longhorns throw brindle quite often. The 2 cows at the bottom of the attached link are good representatives of 2 brindle color combinations. The brindle cows very often produce brindles, but we get others from different color combinations quite often. The previous posting is quite right in that the most common ones are f-1 Brafords and I have seen quite a few in the Beefmaster breed.
