I assume you're the one that bought him? In any case, he looks good. What kind of cows will he go on?

Black cows for baldies.

He'd do real good on Brangus too, I imagine, but you may be too far north to want to try that.

He would that but unlike other Canadians, I will leave the Brahman derivatives where they belong. In warmer climes.

He has no feet!

I've seen a video of him and he has feet. I wouldn't have pursued him if he didn't.

I know, that's sort of a running joke around here. Some guys insist there must be some flaw with the structure of the feet if a bull is standing in straw.

Good looking bull in my opinion but I do run a polled one for what it's worth.

I knew where you were going with the statement.

I will quote a former, long dead cowboss who worked for Canada's largest cattle operation, the Douglas Lake Ranch for over 40 years.
Mike Fergusen was asked to speak at a Canadian Hereford Assn. AGM at one time about DL's extensive use of Hereford bulls. His talk was about the horned kind. So much so that a Polled breeder pressured him to respond why DL didn't use Polled bulls.

Mike's answer was classic, got him escorted off the stage and mirrors my own generally. He said, " We have found that if a bull has a pointy head, he has a pointy azz to go with it."

They are better than they were. but the market here still shows lack of acceptance for Polled Herefords or their crosses.

I have nothing against a horned Hereford bull. I primarily run Angus cows with a small group of Hereford gals in the mix. For the record I wasn't "going" anywhere just stating that I have a polled Hereford bull.

I meant your good natured dig about the feet. :D We are all free to use what genetics we like. Thankfully we aren't all the same, there would be no need for discussions.

I don't see it as "hiding" something as far as structure goes, but it makes ANY bull look deep chested and long when they might not be

I unfortunately don't see that trend changing any time soon

How is he going to out run the wolves with them short legs? :D

Wolves aside I like the bull..... a lot. He should make some great calves for you.

That's interesting, and while I was looking at my crop of replacement heifers and thinking of that quote, the two fat butts are both horned, one which I know to be hetero-polled is in between.. a 4th heifer that could be either homo or hetero polled is the least impressive of the bunch.. I'll watch this coming crop of calves and see if it holds true again.

Good looking bull. I enjoyed looking at the sale catalog, consistent animals across the breeds.

How did Mac's sale go? How did the H2 Hummers sell? He was offering yearling H2's this year for the first time I think - I wasn't as impressed with them as the 2 year olds. Bull looks good.

I didn't attend Aaron. I did lose $20 on the ave pool we have every year by being the most pessimistic. I have won it once and have signed $20 bills from Mac and Ted Serienko. Only time I'll ever get cash out of them. Lol

Sale ave was $6295 on 395 bulls. Charolais ave $9100. They haven't posted sale results yet.

Yearling H2s have been there a few years now, I share your opinion, mostly because the Hereford side of them is polled from a cooperator.

Heard Bill sold a $55,000 Red Angus bull at his sale.

It is quite an experience to attend the sale and see 400 bulls of several breeds with one man's idea of what cattle should be behind them. I have bought bulls there since 1993.

Very decent average for the times I think. Charolais is impressive average. I was under the impression that the 2 year old H2's came off horned cows, no?

Haven't heard anything about Bill's sale.

The two's yes, they are from Mac's own cows. The yearlings aren't.

Bulls were high 2 yrs back, lower last yr and appear to be high again this coming spring.. Glad I'm good for bulls this year... so far anyways.
