I was thinking about keeping some Heifers from my Angus bull to breed back, I was told it was ok to breed father daughter one time but no more, has any body done this ? and if so how far can you go back. have never tried it just thinking about it.

father daughter matings will expose the bull's genetic stregnths and/or weaknesses. If you are trying not to have to buy another bull for another season, this will work. Especially if you are somewhat new to cattle, I would suggest selling the calves out of these matings. Also suggest you don't breed him to his grand daughters from these matings. Do a search on this board for line breeding and inbreeding and you will get lots of good information and opinions.
