I am a young rancher from north dakota who is just getting started in a commercial cow/calf operation. I have an oppertunity to buy some red angus/herford cross cows and i am currently using charolais bull and i was wondering if that would make a good cross. or would i be better off going with a different breed of cows.

with a char bull on those cows.your producing feeder steers an heifers.theres always a pretty good market for those calves.if you want replacements id buy them.

Wxcellent cross the only thing that may be a concern is that they aren;t black. But they're still Angus Hereford crosses.

I think that would make an excellent cross, but like bigbull said I wouldn't keep any replacements.

thanks for the replies. i didnt plan on keeping replacements. right now my heard is mostly red angus and a few simmintel. i was just interested in the herford cross because we got some pretty nasty winters up here and they should keep there body condition better then the red angus or simmintel
