This is for all the people that like to come up with what to breed to what.
The idea of this game is I give you some cows with EPDs, and a few with calf weights, and you then pick out what you would breed them with, and why. You can do a terminal bull, or one to keep for replacements, or do both don't matter.
Here are the first three, and we will see how it goes from there.

Cow #1
1/2 Simmental- 1/2 Char.
EPDs- CE 5.8, BW 3.0,, WW 56.1, YW 74.0, Milk 23.2, YG -.36, Marb .01, REA .50
1000 pound 315 day weight 3/4 sim Bull calf

Cow #2
3/4 Simmental- 1/4 Char
EPDs- CE 5.2, BW 4.0, WW 59.7, YW 79.4, Milk 24.5, YG -.26, Marb -.04, REA .42
470 pound at 215 days 1/2 angus heifer calf.

Cow #3
Just to give you a curve ball
1/4 Maine- 1/4 Angus- 1/2 Hereford
EPDs- CE 9.8, BW 1.0, WW 30.9, YW 64.8, Milk 20.8, Marb .11, REA .12
325 pound at 218 days 1/2 angus steer calf.

1. Angus bull - Add some British influence and marbling
2. Angus bull- same as above but hopefully weaning weight will improve too
3. Demitrius - Even he will improve on a 325 lb almost yearling calf.

oops meant to type 218 days...Got mixed up with all the numbers I had wrote down. :help:

Sim,

Those look to be some pretty framey cows. Why are the weaning weights so low? At 215 days I would expect heifers to weigh 600 lbs. and steers 650 to 700.

Can't expect much when they ain't got any grass. :lol2:
The bull I had for those last two cows had light calves and that's why he's gone, and also the hereford has been gone for a year now.
So don't get all worked up, I used them to make you all work some. ;-)
