breed of cattle info

looking at buying some red poll cattle.what i would like to know is what are the pros and cons.it seems like they are not to popular.i know they are not black in color every breed seems to be black crazy.but you can also use a black bull on them.also who is a big breeder of them.you can not believe everything you read but they sound like the perfect breed.

Have had a Red Poll Bull and some red poll females. Really nice maternal cattle. Ours milked really well and grew really nice calves. Problem with ours everything they ate went to milk production and the cows had a hard time maintaining weight. They cross pretty nice with most of the common breeds. The Gelbvieh Red Poll females really made nice cows. We're running some purebred simmentals now but still have some commercial females from those lines.

If you go by what the breed association says, every breed must be the perfect one! What matters is that you like them and they're good for you.
