I purchased 10 bred heifers that are due to calve starting March for 60 days. I am wanting to give them new tags because their old tags numbers have wore off. Do you think I would be fine? My only concern is one of them aborting.

Yes, certainly shouldn't be a problem. As long as you have the facilities and don't ram and jam them. I buy cows this time of the year which will be calving real soon. They go through the chute and get vaccinated, branded, and new ear tags. Never had an issue.

They'll be fine. Especially if you just cut out the old tags and re-use the same hole.
