We had a show heifer bred about 2 weeks ago,the flies are really bad around here but we didn't know what would be safe to treat her with that wouldn't hurt the calf?

Cylene or permethrin and diesel. There are probably topical horse sprays that would also work

dun

Anything you use to control flies shouldn't hurt the fact that the heifer was bred to weeks ago. It is not going into the blood system. Cylence works good for a couple days/weeks. Anything should be safe.

thanks!!!We found some horse topical treatment called Pyrhana**(sp.???) that works really well !! We spray it on our show heifers 2-3 times a day

Note that a lot of horse fly sprays are not approved for "food producing animals" - such as cows.
