I have a yearling heifer that is due to calve in the next month but I noticed this morning that she is leaking milk. Is there anything I should/can do? She does not look anywhere close to calving.

thanks.

I don't think there should be any problem. She could calve earlier than expected.Although heifers bag up at least a month ahead of calving, I think it's really unusual for her to fill up in the teats so early. In my experience I've seen it happen 2 1/2 weeks before calving but no sooner. I'll be interested to see what happens!

Sorry for the delay in postng the outcome. To my surprise she had a nice LITTLE heifer calf by her side when I got home. The calf only weighed about 45 lbs, but full of energy from the start.

She is doing fine, still isn't very big udder wise but the calf seems to get all it wants to eat.

thanks for the reply
