I am a new member and am really happy to have the opportunity to learn more about cattle. (we are raising registered Brangus).
On a recent visit to a local ranch , we saw an odd looking assortment of cows, several of which had 8-10 inch pointy horns and several were kind of a roany black/gray. We were told by the ranch manager that the animals were "Registered Brangus". We just nodded..OK...but that description doesn't figure as allowed by the Brangus registry. What's up with that or did we just look like dummies? My thought is that someone's brangus cows were visited by the bull next door!

Christina-
Welcome to the boards and good breed choice. You're right, brangus aren't roan and most (stupid african horn gene) dont have horns. Is it possible he said they were out of registered brangus cows or the bull was a registered brangus and the other half was something else? I think either you misheard him or he told you a fib. again, welcome.
