Any suggestions on what to put on a hot brand to help them heal better/faster? A friend of ours puts what I think is turpentine on his, but we've never used anything. Just wondering what everybody else does! Getting ready to brand a handful of bulls.

People I help do branding across the river from me do 100 calves a year, never do anything.. sounds a little counter-productive.. burn them to make a scar and then do something to reduce the scar?

Agree with the others, no need to put anything on the brand, though I've seen people apply everything from motor oil to iodine to pine tar to aerosol fly/screw worm/ear tick spray on a new brand :roll:
Application of a good fly control product now will help speed healing of the brands more than anything :idea:
