branding irons

hi. Im probably in the wrong place, but I figure its worth a try. A friend has acquired a branding iron and is interested in finding out its history.. ie who registerd to and so forth.. I don't know where to look and ran across this website on my search .. if anyone has any suggestions pls pls let me know .. thanks alot

If you're in the US, check with your local Extension folks to see who registers brands in your state. In my state, it's the Cattlemens Association. It's the state Ag Department in some states.
