I wish them luck. I've known of several operations who tried to raise F1 (Hereford-Brahman) cows. None of them could take the hit that the steers brought. But there are other options these days than the sale barn for those steers, so maybe they can make it work.

It's all about numbers. The guys that make it work have enough cattle that they have pot loads of these steers at a time. Load lots of uniform, healthy, known background calves are in demand no matter what the breed is.

In our Embryo program I use F-1 brahman crossed with either Hereford or Angus. Both make beautiful cows.
