blood on ground

I had a few heifers up worming them in the pen and I noticed a pool of blood on the ground about 12in in diameter. Any suggestions? Bulls were in the pen with them and I thought one might gotten rammed into the fence. I couldn't find any blood on any of them or any acting strange. Any suggestions?

bull has been in with them for a month.

beats me. i'd check them over again real good, including the bull. the only time i ever see a "pool" of blood is after a cow calves, sometimes with abortion, and after dehorning and castrating of course. unless you had any postcalving cows in the pen prior to them i'd assume one of them punctured themself.
