I have been tuck pointing an old cement block building. About a 4" wide corner corner has chipped off a block. Is there a good way to put that much mortar on?
Cut out the corner with a masonry blade in your circular saw so you have a square cut and mortar in a 4"x8" solid concrete brick standing on end? I would use an additive instead of water to mix your mortar and "paint" the surfaces of the block thoroughly before patching. Craig
I would recommend fiber bond or some such additive. I used it to add to the premix cement I used to cover the foam walls of my basement and it is still good after 10 years. It adds a polymer for additional holding strength. I think I got it a Lowes or Home Depot. I comes in 16 or 32 OZ containers. Then use it in mortar round block as CP suggested.
