bloating

Help Support CattleToday:

Here's a description from the book "A Guide to Raising Beef Cattle" by Heather Smith Thomas, Storey Publications, Copyright 1998: "Bloat: Sometimes indigestion or other disruption of normal function creates excessive gas. If too much gas builds up in the rumen, the tight rumen puts pressure on lungs and heart. Burping may not get rid of excess gas, especially if it is frothy. Several feeds can cause bloat: legume pasture, rich alfalfa hay, too much grain, or finely chopped hay or grain."<p>Though not always life threatening, it can become severe. <p><br>: what is bloating?<p>
