A friend had a yearling heifer bloat in him the other day and was wondering if it may have been caused by his hay. He said it was put up a bit on the wetter side than one would like and had a good bit of thistle in it. He lives in a different state so I haven't been able to see her or the hay just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue as I have not, and maybe give us some insight as to why she may have bloated. I know this is all a bit vague but it's all the info I got.

Hay baled wet or damp will probably be moldy, and that can cause bloat problems. Lots of people around us buy feeder hay that's moldy and have no qualms about feeding it. We don't do it!
