Try adding more roughage.

Did You change their diets abruptly? If you did don't do that Also try putting sodium bicarbonate in the feed or water. And if you are running an antibiotic(OTC,CTC,sulfa, etc..) in the feed you are putting too much in for too long of a period and it is killing the "good bugs" in their rumens. Also if they are holsteins don't worry about it that's normal!! (just kidding) good luck

We also raise cattle on self feeders, beef cattle and dairy steers. The best cure is prevention, but once they are already bloated, ake them off the feed they're on and grind straw up in their feed. This forces them to eat the roughage, and therefore less grain. It's more time consuming, but it's better than dead cattle.

Our neighbors had the same problem, they started adding oats to the ration. I guess that pretty much solved it.
