Black Powder Shotguns

Help Support CattleToday:

I did years ago but my dog got fussy about how long it took to load and would go looking for someone else with a modern shotgun. Origianlly it was a straight cylinder but I had a jug choke cut into it and it sure made a big difference on doves.

I never tried doves, but ole Rube and I do have fun with tree rat's. Hunt deer during muzzleloading season as well, favorite load is buck and ball. Two 50 caliber balls and four double aught pellets, drops em like a rock. Great weapon in the big thicket during late season muzzleloader only.

I've got an old L.C. Smith that belonged to my great grandaddy. He lived in Orangefield and was a rice farmer/cattleman. 32 inch full choke both barrels. They call it a goose gun in my family heritage. Never knew him. He had been dead many years before I was born. Damascus barrels. You can never shoot modern 12 gauge shells in it (black powder only).

Don't reckon it will ever be fired again. Don't need it other than sentiments.
