Lost a 110 day old 275 lb. calf on3/11/03. Appeared healty on 3/10/03. Found after approx. 4 hours. Bleeding from the eyes and mouth and had red / white foam at nose. Does this sound like black leg?

When you lose one to Blackleg, it is that fast, but there will be gas undert the hide that will crackle when you press on the skin, there is no cure, but you can help prevent it with annual vaccination.

You shoul have called a vet to do a Necropsy, and find out what she died of to prevent other animals from the same fate

> leg? If vet says its blackleg, consider revacinating cows yearly. The cows don't need it but it will improve their colostrum to protect the young calf from blackleg and c and d perfringens, two other of the blackleg 7 which can cause rapid death.
