Black Herfords?

Help Support CattleToday:

They have a web site but I can't find the URL right now. All they are, are homozygous black Herefords. Breed a black Angus the a Hereford, then the off spring to a Hereford and select by color. Eventually you have a black Hereford. All that is left from the angus by the time they will register them is the color. Whopee

Is that not the same as Black Balldie ?

A true black baldie is considered to be the first cross of an angus and a Hereford. With baldies you get the heterosis that ehlps her be a better cow then the sum of the two parts. A black Hereford has all the hybred vigor bred out and you basically just have a Hereford that happens to be black. About all it boils down to is a marketing gimmick to taker advantage of the "black is beautiful" mind set.
