Why do you reader think Angus was decided to be Black not red..? Any ideals ?

When you read a complete history of the breed, you'll find that way back one of the breed's founders stated they should be black. Red cows were tolerated but bulls weren't even allowed to be registered until sometime later in the last century (the 1900's).

If he had chosen red as the main color, the breed could easily have been confused with other red breeds.

Now that it's history, we can't do anything other than talk about it.

certainly right, but I think that the only country worldwide that does not registered the Red and Black Angus in the same Association is the USA

I think the seperation of angus from other Red breeds by making it black is part of it..But since Black cow were native to were angus come from, I think the choice was to try to preserve that( the Black cattle that was native, not the other imported breeds) or mixes. ALF
