Birth weight

Help Support CattleToday:

For dairy breeds, Jerseys. For beef, I am not 100 % sure but I would guess British breeds like Angus, Herefords, Shorthorns. And of course there are the small breeds too like the Scottish Highlands.

You can get some big birth weights in Angus, Herford, and Shorthorn. Shorthorns have the reputation of big birth weights. But you can find calving ease bulls in any breed for the most part. Texas Longhorns will be a safe bet evertime for low birth weights.

Corrientes. NACA used to have their national show in April, many times a calf or two would be born at the show. They looked like fawns. Couldn't have been over 40 pounds.
