From what I've heard, the reduction in bee population has been attributed to possibly a virus, bacteria, or fungus infection.
For birds...easy way to find them: Broadcast some small grain seed in your pasture (oats, wheat, barley, corn, etc.). Then, wait a few minutes...lol.

Don't know about the bees, but the birds are hanging around in my carport.
