Cross breeding will give you the most hybrid vigour, the advantage is most effective in maternal traits but it still affects weaning weight. Try to choose a breed that is known for growth, simmental, charolais are most common around here. You need to choose a bull that will still have cows small enough so that your cows can calve out and have cows that you can afford to feed. I like an angus simmental cross but that just what works around here, simmentals have the growth and milk, both are good mothers and we select for calving ease for heifers. Good luck
