BIG cows

Why are there so many big 1200 ,1400 lb and up cows . packers say they want a 1200 lb beef and a 1000 lb cow will toss slightly bigger offspring. Hybrid vigor and all that. I just saw that a cow over 1000 lbs takes 15% more feed to support 10% more body weight. I know in my herd the smaller framed more feminine cows last longer --aren't culled, got a calf every year, feedit out, don't stand and bellow wanting to move to the next paddock.
