we always have used the ytex.. rarely have an animal to lose one so i guess they are doing the job.

Yep these are the ones we use also and have never found one laying in the pasture or have a cow come up with one missing.

Allflex here, not for any real reason - that's what I started with and I tend to just stay with what works. I lose a few but not too bad. My biggest gripe is fade, but this is Arizona so sun is a problem with plastics anyway.

I have often wished Consumer Reports would do an ear tag test, but I guess not to many cattlemen are members of that union, nor many members have use for animal ear tags.

We've been using Cal Tags the last three years. Haven't lost a single one, easy to read from a distance, and we have them engrave our ranch name and phone number on the backs, in case someone escapes.
