Right then!
Someone has been nursing I believe...

This allows me to keep more calves on mamas milk. Bessie went out with the main herd. She's gotta be dried off. About 2 months before calving roughly...
Eleanor still has 3 in there with her. Tho I'll get the 3rd steer caught soon as I can, then she will just have the 2 on her. I got 1 steer caught and in the weaning pen with his friends. He eats really good so I may as well have weaned him anyway. I'll cross post some of this in Bessie and Eleanors threads so there will be some continuity...

So how bout that!!!

Shes out with the herd. Sold the calf that was nursing her. He was way too big and the lil heifer wanted nothing to do with a new mama. So I'll let Willow eat a while.
No plans for her yet. For now I'll just enjoy lookin at her out there with the big cows and giggle a little. 😀

Starting to get a bit of shape about her. Tho not near as good/fast as my projects that get spoiled....
I never got the registration papers. I'm of a mind they saw what she brought and said pee on you! (They didn't attend the sale and had the check mailed)
Anyway....

I missed a really nice black belted pair yesterday. Nice cow with 3/4 belt and solid black bull calf. They only brought 1000 dollars. I just couldn't make myself!

I went specifically looking for a couple babies and did NOT take a trailer because I didn't want to buy anything else!

Seen a few black belties sell Saturday brought from .30 to .60. One weighing 535 had already had a calf. Not sure what happened to the calf. Even I don't gamble on those.

This was a pretty big cow. They would've brought more split up. The solid black bull calf was the money maker I think. But I really don't want a whole herd of belties even if they turn out to be free cows. 😀

My wife’s beltie just had her third calf, she was in with a Hereford, red angus and a charolais, it’s a charolais.
She had her last calf on April fools day, that’s pretty fast breeding.

No not really.
The last one she had was solid black.
Her bag is a lot bigger this year.

To me, with those pics, the calf looks yellow with a white belt. And possibly a bald face...
Makes me think hereford got her!

With most the herds here consisting of >50 head, farmers don't have the numbers or consistency to put together loads.

Believe you got your >mis-oriented. Average herd size for KY beef producers is about 30 head... so... <50 by a considerable bit.
