My girlfriend and I recently purchased a Jersey bull calf. Intentions to raise for beef. We currently have 4 horses, a goat, and a pig. I've read mixed reviews on Jersey beef, but the general consensus is that it is good. We intend to keep it with one older horse for the first while, then mix in with the other horses. Mostly grass fed. I'm just curious on things that others, much more knowledgeable on this, may be able to help us with. We're expecting our first baby (human, lol) in April. The calf is 5 weeks old. Special feeding or care instructions? What to do/not to do, things to watch out for, etc. I've always wanted to raise some beef, and this is just a start. Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

As gonzo said, the first thing to do is have it converted from a bull to a steer. After that, there's a lot of information here on raising baby calves. Do a search to get the general information, then feel free to come back with specific questions.

And welcome to the forum.
