Back through the years
I go wonderin once again
Back to the seasons of my youth
I recall a box of rags that someone gave us
And how my momma put the rags to use
There were rags of many colors
Every piece was small
And I didn't have a coat
And it was way down in the fall
Momma sewed the rags together
Sewin every piece with love
She made my coat of many colors
That I was so proud of
As she sewed, she told a story
From the bible, she had read
About a coat of many colors
Joseph wore and then she said
Perhaps this coat will bring you
Good luck and happiness
And I just couldn't wait to wear it
And momma blessed it with a kiss
...
But they didn't understand it
And I tried to make them see
That one is only poor
Only if they choose to be
Now I know we had no money
But I was rich as I could be
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me
Made just for me

Coat of Many Colors - Dolly Pardon, (SP?)

I think it was called Silver Wings but I can't remember the artist.
Oh common! Get over her, Van! It's on! Merle Haggard!!!!

Only the best song EVER! Talk about exchanging belly button lint!
Lammie, not to argue but this line is from the best song ever

They placed a wreath upon his door.
Why that was "She Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones. When I was a kid my mom had several of his albums and listened to them daily while she did her housework.

Some of them want to be abused.

Is the title Sweet Dreams? By the Eurithmics?

Yes.
Annie Lennox career took a nose dive after that SNL outburst when she called the Pope the devil incarnate.

I thought that was Seanade (butchering the spelling here) O'Connor? The one that shaved her head. She had a picture of the Pope and she like tore it up, or something, on SNL...

Hot Rod Lincoln

Extra credit for the artist.

Commander Cody and The Lost Planet Airmen?

I was gonna say Asleep At The Wheel, but I remember that album with Commander Cody. The album was worth buying for the cover alone...

I think you are right. I probably had them confused.

These lyrics are from memory, so don't kill me if they're not exactly right.

People coming up to ya
Singing Glory Halleujah
Then they try to sock it to ya
In the name of the Lord

Title is right, but I was thinking about the early 70's (?) version.

I saw him dancing there
By the record machine
I knew he must have been
About seventeen
The beat was going strong
Playing my favorite song
And I could tell
It wouldn't be long
'Til he was with me, yeah, me
And I could tell
It wouldn't be long
'Til he was with me
Yeah, me, singin'

I love rock and roll - cant think of the artist

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

If your lips ain't got
Nothing pressing to do
If you arms aren't held up
They're invited, too...

You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got.
Set them free at the break of dawn
'Til one by one, they were gone.
Back at base, bugs in the software
Flash the message, Something's out there.
Floating in the summer sky.
99 red balloons go by.

No guesses? Early 80s. It was originally sung in German then translated.

Wild Thing, I think you move me!
You made me trust you, then stuck the knife in my heart
You're a lying, unfaithful, untrustable tramp
But I think I love you!

Wild Thing - no idea on the artist

The girl in the video was Jessica Hahn.

Railroad bums, transients, out-of-work guys
Guys that are gonna use you like you used me!
Guys that are gonna take money out of your purse and crawl out a window!

Wild Thing - no idea on the artist
It was an English Group called 'The Troggs' who went on to be '10CC'

Her name was Nina or something like that. I had to memorize that song in German when I was in college and it came out. It is about nuclear war. I can still sing it in German, although I can't spell it well enough to write it down.

Ninety-nine Red Balloons. ( Neun und neunsich Rot Balloons. )
I know I misspelled the numbers. I have slacked.
