Beef Cattle

Help Support CattleToday:

Lots of variables. Size, quality and market are the biggest ones. Good quality steers to 500 lbs. are well over a $100/cwt these days though, regardless of breed.

we just sold two bulls to the owner of one of the local auction barns. when he was out looking he said he's been asked for an interview by a local newspaper. they were doing an article because they had heard that black calves brought more money. he said he hated to ruin her whole idea for an article but he told her it wasn't true. the buyers will pay good money for good calves, regardless of color. he should know......he sees over a thousand calves/week.

How true. Our tiger stripe calves sell as well or better than out blacks.

I agree that good calves will all sell well. I've alwasy maintaned that. But sorry black calves do bring better money then sorry other colored calves. But they're still sorry calves
