I think what you are talking about is ringworm- scabby areas around the eyes and on the head and neck. I've heard it called barn yard itch- it spreads quite easily amongst cattle and can spread to humans. Best cure for it is sunshine- it usually only shows up in the winter and goes away with sunshine. You can treat it by scraping the scab and spraying with low % iodine.

Could also be psoroptic mange, aka barn itch. Ivomec, cydectin or dectomax will eliminate.

It is a fungus that can be treated with a cream called Old Hickory Topical ointment.
