Banding Older Bull?

I have a Angus bull calf D.O.B. 12/2/15. I was thinking bout keeping for a bull. But, I changed my mine and banded him with my CA. Bander. I put two bands on him cause of his size. I been a week and he is showing swelling above the bands and some swelling down his shaft. I've never banded a calf this large appox. 875# is this swelling normal? Thanks for any input in advance. Once banded a yearling bull few years ago. It worked but took a while for the balls fell off. Have you give him any shots?

I'd keep a close eye on him, the risks to banding increase as the nuts are bigger...

Was wondering if cutting him a while after banding would be a good idea

I had a neighbor that routinely bought bigger bulls 600-900 lbs and banded them. He would do the bands and give them shots then a week or so later he would cut the sack off below the bands a little. Done this often as he only bought bulls to turn into to steers and resale after about 3-4 weeks. :2cents:

A tetanus shot may be a good idea. I have done a couple in the 700 lb range with no issues.
