banding large calves

I've been looking into banding my calves around 300 lbs, before I wean them. Is this a good idea? I have been banding them when they are around a week old, but this isn,t always easy for one reason or the other, so, I thought that I would wait until I could get them in the head shut.

The Callicrate bander is the only large bander I've had any experience with. Worked well, not sure on that small of a calf if it's appropriate size for them. 300 lbs may be neither fish nor fowl, too big for the small banders, too small for the big ones.

We've banded 400-500 pound bull calves that we've just bought with no problems using a small bander. Just pull the sack through then one nut at a time.
