I brought home a bottle yesterday and read the instructions.

It says 1 cc per 45 kg's which is 1 cc/100lbs,
and it says intravenous use only in cattle.
Which contradicts everything you guys say how to use it.
Just wondering why you can give it intramuscular and double the dosage.

I did talk to my vet and he said that it is safe to use intramuscular a 1cc/100lbs.

Also do you know how hard it is to find probios around here. Had to special order them.

Just Curious.

It hasn't been tested intramuscularly... and the companies would be looking at millions of dollars and years of testing to get it approved for IM use. The withdrawal times on the label are per the instructions (1mL/100lbs IV) and so with off label use the withdrawal times are uncertain. I'd guess probably 2-3 extra days, but you can't be sure, and there may be tissue residue and damage as well.

IMO, it's OK given IM on calves or breeding stock that won't be shipped for at least several months. If you're using it on something you intend to slaughter for yourself or will be shipping in the near future, use it per label instructions.

For probios.... Just buy acidopholus capsules in the drugstore. Way cheaper and just as effective in my opinion, if all you need to do is restore gut flora.
